iTunes is one of the biggest duplicate files creators on a Mac OSX. Why is this? Because we store all of our music, TV shows, movies, and applications that we transfer to our iPods, iPhones and iPads. When we transfer files back and forth and download new files from various sources, we end up clogging our hard drive and filling up iTunes. The result? You can use the ‘Show Duplicates in iTunes’ function, however the process is not that simple. You are going to need to check each song, make sure you are not deleting the higher quality version, and you will miss songs that are named the wrong way. If you use software that is created for this purpose, then you’ll be able to compare bitrate, author, date, and you’ll be able to quickly compare two tracks and select the better version, whether the song is named correctly or not.
